Inspired by Susan Kare’s method of designing icons for the early Macintosh computer, I sketched out common flatware forms on grid paper, digitized it, and turned them into 3D objects. This approach of turning an iconic set of objects into a 2D icon and then back into a 3D object with reference to its 2D form allows a new approach to what an icon can be.
